Artist Statement
"Ten years in and I'm still amazed by what I can create with a little imagination, experimentation, construction materials, and paint."
I am an artist, painter, and teacher specializing in installation murals, surreal paintings, and art workshops. My original works tend to be brightly colored and surreal — opportunities to explore complex ideas in environmental, psychological, and spiritual spaces in unconventional ways.
I like to wow with fantastical 3D and trompe l'oeil designs. My murals add a contemporary spin on surrealism, magical realism, fantasy, and illusion — taking your ideas and working them into my style to create the illusion of new doorways and windows into dreamy places.
The state of the world is surreal. My work holds up a mirror to that — with color, magic, and a refusal to look away.
Bio
Lacey Finchum, known professionally as Lace Finch, is a multidisciplinary artist based in St. Joseph, Michigan. Her practice spans installation murals, surrealist paintings, and immersive art experiences that invite viewers to look harder, think deeper, and feel something unexpected.
She is the founder of Lace Finch Studios, a 2,400 sq ft creative space offering mural commissions, art workshops, private studio rentals, events, and memberships.
